I heard that if the window opens up into an airshaft that disqualifies the room as a bedroom. This is different. the building structure juts inward almost like a "v". The "V" extends from ground level to the roof and is open air -- there is no skylight covering it. Hope you understand -- it sounds more complex than it really is.

A closet isn't necessary, but the window must be openable. Don't know about the internal courtyard. It should, if the building is up to code.

Under section 8, any room that is air conditioned is living area and a bedroom is defined by at least 3 walls with a window to outside. Doesn't matter if a courtyard, or front yard. Must open to outside. k?

There should be a closet and a window for it to qualify for a bedroom. Every bedroom should have one working window...what happens in case of a fire? It wouldn't matter to me what Section Eight had to say about it, that's just common sense to want to be able to have an escape route. Who do you want to sleep in this room...who would want to sleep in this room?
