I live in an apartment building and have kept everything very clean. I don't leave out food and the trash goes out regularly.

I now am having an issue with maggots and roaches. I don't know where they are coming from, or what is feeding them. Should I talk to the manager...and what do I tell them? I've told them (the manager) about every other issue here, and they haven't done anything to fix anything.

This is kinda an emergency because I don't know where the maggots are coming from.

Some advice please.

These were maggots. I know what baby roaches look like and I know what maggots look like. They are very different. Little white-ish beige colored worms...with a black dot for a head....grosses thing I've ever seen... I lived on a farm for 4 years and I've seen my fill of maggots...let me tell you. *shivers*

You might do all those things but the other people in the building might not be so clean. Tell your manager in writing give him a copy and let him know if the problem isnt fixed in a timely manner you will put your rent in an escro account with the local courts.

are you sure they are maggots? roaches can spread from other units.. they move along the plumbing and like moist areas.. kitchen, bath.. notify the supt immediately! may be from another unit.. pest control will be able to determine the source... if nothing is done by management then call rental tribunal.. trust me.. management will get off their asses really quickly then!

playne j is correct. Send a certified letter stating the problem and say that if no action will be taken within 30 days, you will pay for a extermination service and deduct the cost from your next month's rent.
