it was dada, and she was 6 months. But don't get discourage your child will speak when their ready 2. It happens between the age 6 months 2 1yrs old so don't rush them just let them do it when their ready. By the way, they could have said their 1st word when u weren't around, (it happened 2 me) so don't worry you'll hear something soon.

My son's first word was "Mom" at 7 1/2 months, but my nephew is 13 months and hasn't said a word. It depends on each kid.

According to my parents and grandparents, my brother and I both held off talking at all until later in life. He was about a year and a half, and I was slightly over two (but then, I was death from birth and no one realized it until I was two, so that's when the surgery was), and then we began talking just like all the adults...
but my first words? They really were "Oh, f**k you"... and I've been told from all parties who witnessed it that I knew EXACTLY what I was saying.

Aside from the usual mama and dada, my son's first "real" word was "map" from Dora the Explorer around 10 months. My other son said "Batman" at about 11 months.

With every baby it was Dada, at about 4 to 7 months.
Not fair in my eyes since I did all of the hard work to bring them into this life!!
LOL!
But that's the way it goes! Or went.

My first word at 8 months old was JOE. Joe was our dog. Mum and Dad both felt a little left out I think, but he was my best mate 'till I was 15.

Sons first word was COW at around 6months. He had a zebra on his mobile, so maybe he thought it was a cow.
