86 GMC 1500 Rear End Toast at 280K.?

Question: Is it easier to drop whole rear end from leaf springs or just drop the whole thing springs and all and then replace?

Depends. If the spring shackle bolts will come out of their bushing Its easier. You still have parking brake cables and brake lines to remove.

if your rearend is mounted above the springs then drop springs and all. if mounted below its easier to leave the springs mounted to the frame.
