I couldn't actually feel the dialation till I was dialating to a 5-7 because of the pressure of the baby coming during labor. I could tell I was dialating from the Braxton Hicks I had 3 weeks before labor. Some women don't dialate that easily, though, even with strong contractions. I pray that you will have a good delivery and soon!

I am on baby number four (my third born was born on June 14th!) Usually you don't 'feel' the dialation. What you will feel will be the contractions as you progress through labor. First - has your OB done an internal exam? He or she can tell if your have started to dialte or not. Many woman begin to dialate for a week or more before the onset of labor. Hope all goes well with your delivery and try to relax.

Effacement of the cervix (thinning out) usually happens prior to dialation and you can feel the stretching there, esp with the Braxton Hicks contractions gradually helping to soften and ripen everything down there, but can't know actual cms dilation until measured with a digital vaginal exam....your mucus plug could fall out too, thats a sign and then you know you are making a little progress. Best wishes and blessings on a safe and satisfying labor and delivery. Best wishes for you and your new family.

I remember wanting to know exactly how it felt too...till I felt it-lol. I am going to tell you what my mom told me-" When it happens-YOU WILL KNOW!" Seriously-I didnt feel myself dialating, but I did feel labor pains. First it was a backache, then turned into cramps, then hurt all at once. With the first baby my water broke first-all I felt was like I had wet myself. Then the fun began... With my second, I was induced. If you have a choice-let it happen naturally. Dont worry. It will be ok-you will know. Good luck and have a happy, healthy delivery.

Usually when you start dialating we start having pains in yoour bach hips and lower abdomen. the pain usually start and you might not notice it cause they are very mild and the stronger they get the more you are dialating. whern they get closer take baths with warm-hot water it will help speed up the process and make your pains aliitle better. remember when your pains are about7-5 minutes apart it is time to go to the hospital cause once you hit 3 minutes you are going to be attmited in the hospital for labor. after that it might take a while due to the fact that it is your first child.

When the baby is head down and has dropped down I always thought it felt like it was falling out I guess you would say. I guess that doesn't have to mean you are dilated but it would mean you're in the right track. The cramping you'd feel would be contraction. You've probably had some already since you're due in a couple of days.
Good luck *hugs*

i had a drs appt when i was 38.2 weeks pregnant with my daughter and when the dr checked to see if i was dialated, i wasn't, but a few days after my appt i felt sharp pain in my pelvis, like someone was pinching my cervix and at 39.2 weeks pregnant i went into labor and i was only 1 cm dialated.....so i guess it is possible to know or feel when you are dialted or know that the baby is comming soon!

Well I just had my first 7 months ago and I never had false contractions, so when I started feeling menstrual cramps I knew they were contractions, it was 2 days before my due date. You'll feel these contractions and they are uncomfortable and non-stop, the way to know is "can you sleep throught them"? i slept right through them for a couple of days and then one night there was now way I could, it hurt so bad, then I went to the hospital and 3 am and had my daughter at 8:40 am.

do you mean when you go into labor? Some womn have cramps in the front others in thier backs. But watch the time contractiona come reg. like every 10 minutes apart then they get stronger and closer together also your stomach will tighten up it becomes very hard. watch the clock and look for a pattern when they are every 5 minutes apart and lasting a minute then it's time to go or if your water breaks
