Of course not. It's only 2 or 3 years later than most people start. Tell him he's probably going to live until he's 85 and will statistically have 3 different careers in his life.
Just be sure to be educated. The alternatives suck bigtime.

I recently started taking classes at my local college and believe it or not there are quite a few engineering students in my classes. Some of which are in their 30's and just starting out. If your friend truly wants to become an engineer, there is no better time to start then now. I would think that it would be better to start now and finish by 26, than to get into something that he won't be happy doing for the rest of his life.
Besides, once he starts his degree, he could work in an engineering firm, even get the company to pay for his schooling and still get his masters, while gathering the much needed experience that is required in that field.
Good Luck!

No, it is never too late to learn something new. There are people in college in their 40's and 50's getting degrees in various fields. I have a friend who is a teacher and she started in her 50's. 28 is still young. Engineering is a good field. He will make good money. It is never to late to go for your dreams.

Hopefully he's going to be 26 anyway, why not have a degree in engineering? I read in the paper last week a man 92 years old finally finished college. You're never too old to learn.

It is never too late to start in a new career field and he is not too old. I went to college with people who were in their late 40's to 50's and these people graduated with me earlier this year. If he loves egineering then he should just go for it. Life is too short not to do something you love. If he doesn't do what he really wants, a few years from now he is going to regret not studying engineering.

I do not think it is too late. A lot of people start late and it does not matter. You can do whatever you want. There are a lot of programs out there that can get you a degree faster. Good luck.

Not even late. It is very common for people to go to work, get into the flow of life, then figure out what they really like. 21 is an awsome time to find out what your friend likes to do and go study for it.
It gets a lot tougher when you have kids. and a mortgage.

It's never too late to start. I went to medical school with a man in his 60's. He always wanted to be a doctor and nothing was going to stop him! That was way cool!
