As a general rule antibiotics hurt the liver, and destroy beneficial bacteria without which we cannot be healthy (e.g. digestion, immunity and the ability to eliminate depend on them!), cause yeast overgrowth and resultant immune suppression, and generally fight no more than 7 types of bacteria, which are developing superstrain immunity as we speak. There is nothing more medieval than giving someone poison to fight an infection, most of which aren't bacterial in origin to begin with.

Instead of taking DEATH, i.e. "ANTI" "BIOTICS" = translated "AGAINST LIFE," why not start with the safe and effective PROBIOTIC: "For LIfe."

Death dealing medicine is a sick, perverse Joke.

As already said, it depends on the antibiotic and why you are on them. If you feel like they are not working, call your doctor, you may need something stronger.

Probiotics are more for preventive. Antibiotics do also kill beneficial bacteria, but our bodies reproduce that bacteria. Eating yogurt while taking antibiotics help to maintain the healthy bacteria that prevents yeast over growth, which is what causes yeast infections due to antibiotic use. The yogurt, a probiotic, must contain active and live cultures. If you do not like yogurt you can get adidophilus drops at a healthfood store.

Without antibiotics, diseases would be ravaging, and ppl would be dying from simple illness that is easily treated with antibiotics. True they are over used, which is causing resistant strains, but if they are taken properly, until all gone, and only for bacterial illness, they are a great medical invention!! Taking ANY pills, drinks or even consuming more protein or fat then needed in a day can damage the liver!

sometimes antibiotics have to build up in your system before they start working.
if you have been on an antibiotic for a while now, it may not be working b/c you have a viral infection and viruses can't be cured with antibiotics, they just have the run their course.
if you are really concerned then i would suggest speaking with your doctor. it might even be that you need a stronger antibiotic or a different one...different antibiotics fight different infections.

good luck!

That depends on the type of antibiotic. In most cases it takes about three days to start feeling better. If you haven't noticed any improvement within 3-4 days, I would call your doctor.

At least a week, but don't go off them w/o a md's opinion. The bacteria my come back stronger due to only killing off the weak.
