Look around to see if there is an ACT prep course you can take. I took one and it improved my score by about 8 points. If that isnt an option most book stores have a section of test prep books and they can be quite helpful. I would recomnd the "For Dummys" line if they offer an ACT prep book. I recently took the GRE ( the graduate school version of the SAT) and used the "For Dummys" GRE prep book and found it to be very helpful.

Good luck.

What schools do you want to use the ACT for? Some schools don't use standardized tests like that these days. See if the schools you want require it or not. If they don't, don't send it to them! Also community collleges might be a good way to start into college. After a year or so there transfering to a university won't need ACT or SAT scores.
Let you strengths be your school activities and academic record. Either in HS or in community college.
If you need to retake the ACT pay for those prep courses. They are very helpfull if you apply yourself to them.

I have some friends who were studying for their GED. I looked over the material and was surprised at the quality.

I bet if you get into a class like that - where people are studying for a GED - it would go a long way toward getting you ready for the ACT.
