I mostly do it after a day because no one really answers them after that. Whoever gives the most detailed answer wins 10 points. Answer wisely.

I usually wait a day, although when no one agrees with me or answers correctly I usually put it to vote after a week, hoping no one will find it except for those who vote 'No Best Answer' like there's no tomorrow.

Yahoo answers only allowed people choose the best answer one day after the question asked.And the question is only visible in the category for 10-60 minutes or maybe less. After the visible time, the people must find the question between the thousand of other open question. So, if i'm not forget i asked the question i will choose in one day.

I don't really care about about the points but, I can barely wait a day bc after the first 10 answers I don't seem to get any more.

I think a good week after no body answers. The question is only popular for a day it seems. If none of the answers look good enough I will let the people vote. I rarely give best answers.

It depends on what question I have asked. One Of my questions was about camera choices with my needs and price range mentioned. I gave that one awhile because I wanted to get as many answers as possible from camera users. I asked a qustion about a new plant I had bought and I knew I got the answerI needed out of 2 answers so I chose best more quickly on that question..I would like askers to choose because I see a lot that have been put to vote, they have remained tie-breakers for a long time and still not resolved!!

After about 10 answers I have already made my choice. I wait the 24 hours and pick the one I want.

I usually only leave mine open for a day maximum, as you said most people have finished answering by that time, unless I ask a question on a Friday, it has to stay open for the weekend then as I only use Answers while I am at work to kill the time!!!

I haven't asked but a couple questions but I would agree that after a day you aren't getting any more answers.
It seems most people never pick a best answer. Most are chosen by voters.
