IN 1964 Nothin' could even come close to a 429 Shelby Cobra.
But I loved the GTO....... and the 409 and the Musta....

Do you mean when they were stock or after they have been modified? My ex-husband and I had a 69 Chevelle, and he worked it to do the quater mile. I don't remember what was in it, I think it was a 454, I do know it wasn't street legal. He ran nitrous, slicks, the whole bit. It was pretty cool, he would take it to the track, race it. And when that wasn't going on he would street race with other local car bangers. This was in Barstow, CA. about 12 years ago.

What is the criteria? One could argue that any American car with RWD and a V8 is a muscle car. If there are no limitations on year or brand, i would say the 2006 Corvette Z06

1970 LS6 Chevelle or a 1969 Hemi Roadrunner would be two guess of the top.
