After reading the 1st 11 A's, I'm gonna say that I think that my Purpose in Life is to be a Good Role Model.

I've alwayz been what most would consider a "goody-two-shoes." I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. Although I HAVE tried smoking b/f, & drank coolers once in a VERY blue moon.. Can't even remember the last time that I had a cooler...
I am not a mean person. Well, I try not to be anywayz. I try to do the right things. I don't go out commiting crimes or anything like that, not threatening anyone.. I graduated fr hs in '99 & then after moving out I went to the Academy of Learning. (Private "college" where you can learn Computerized & Office skills) I also took other courses. I volunteered my time to certain events. During 1 event (the Aboriginal Festival, which is not being held this yr, I'm guessing due to lack of volunteers) I was even one of several peeps who had a "Special Ty" I guess that was cuz I was more willing &/or doing more than some peeps did.

I work @ a Health Dept. One of the positions that someone has is being the Tobacco Coordinator. She goes to schools & talks to kids bout not smoking. Well one time she had a bunch of peeps talk to small groups of kids (maybe up to 12) @ a time bout their experiences in life re: tobacco or why they don't smoke, etc. She asked me if I'd be willing to do that. I wanted to, but I was under the impression that I'd be talking @ the podium (if that's what it's called) in front of 100s of kids !!! So I ended up not doing it... I prob coulda asked someone if I could say something bout me not smoking... as I'm a youth & there were no youth there to talk to them bout why they don't smoke, etc.

OR if my purpose is NOT to be a good role model, then maybe it's to be in the hospitality industry.... working on a cruise, in a motel/hotel, etc. But the prob w/ this is that I'm kinda shy. I'm overcoming that tho. Not quite as shy as I used to be.

I think that one of these reasons is my purpose in life cuz:

1) I'm a so-called "goody-two-shoes"
2) I like helping peeps. (I've served the public by volunteering to work in a canteen a few times) The first time I volunteered I was scared !!! (being shy & all) But after an hr or 2 of doing it I really liked it :D

Last night after reading a Q on here bout Heaven, I was thinking that maybe our purpose is to try to get to Heaven... to CHOOSE whether or not we're gonna be good or bad will determine that. Or, is this just an obvious "purpose" ? If it is, then the 1st thing that I said is MY purpose in life.

Tough question. I think I am supposed to touch other’s lives in a meaningful way. For a long time, I thought I was supposed to be a teacher. I loved that job, and I felt like I was really making a difference in a few students’ lives each semester. Almost 2 years ago, my job was cut. I was devastated. Now I work in administration. I am still helping students, but in a different way. I do not have a sense of success or fulfillment that I had when I was teaching. Ya gotta go where the jobs and MONEY be! Still . . . I miss my students and the sense of "purpose." I still teach adjunct for a community college, and that keeps me from feeling like a complete failure.

To live an ethical life. Check out the 4 Noble Truths (of Buddhism):

1. Life means suffering.
2. The origin of suffering is attachment.
3. The cessation of suffering is attainable.
4. The path to the end of suffering is self-improvement.

And --

Then follow the 8fold path (of Buddhism):

1. Right View
2. Right Intention
These two relate to wisdom.
3. Right Speech
4. Right Action
5. Right Livelihood
These three relate to ethical conduct.
6. Right Effort
7. Right Mindfulness
8. Right Concentration
These three relate to mental development.

This is the way to find your purpose in life!

i think its to first finish college since i just got started like a year ago. then to go find a decent job, save up for a house, and save up to invest in something like real estate that could make a lot of money. With that money, use it to help others like donate to profitable charities like the red cross who helps so many people all over the world and to certain charities that i might end up liking personally. For everyday thing though as of right now, just to be a good person and try treat others the way i want to be treated, and try to help others in any way possible since im not close to having a decent permanent job yet.

To be the best that I could be in my chosen field which is Art and share the fruits of my labor to everybody, touching lives in the process and build a much fairer world. My paintings will be the only things left and would continue to 'communicate' with people long after I'm gone. Art will make me live forever.

Have you ever wondered about the reason of our existence? Have you ever wondered why we die, and where we go after death? What will happen to us in the end? Have you ever asked yourself why God made the earth and all that is in it under man’s dominion? Why were the night and the day, and the sun and the moon created? What are we supposed to do during our lifetime? Were we created just to eat, drink, and enjoy ourselves before we die? As one poet put it:
“I do not know whence I have come.
I saw my feet walking on the road.
As they please I go and stop.
What am I doing here?
How did the road find me?
I do not know! I do not know! I do not know! ”

God has emphasized in many verses of the Qur’an that He did not create us without purpose. He said: “What! Do you think that I created you simply in jest? And that you would not be returned to Me?” (23:115) He also said: “What! Does man think that he will be left to roam at his will?” (75:36) In addition, He said: “Do people think that they will be left to say: “We believe,” and they will not be held accountable?” (29:2)
Indeed, God Has created human beings for a purpose and with a purpose: TO WORSHIP HIM ALONE (Monotheism). He said: “I have not created the Jinn and humankind except only to worship Me. I don't require provision or feeding from them. Surely Allah is the All-provider, the Possessor of all strength, the Firm.” (51:56-58) In fact, all prophets told their people to worship God alone (Monotheism) and shun worshipping His creation (Paganism). God said: “I assuredly sent among every people a messenger with the command: Worship Allah and avoid worshipping false gods.” (16:36)
Prophet Abraham, for example, believed in One God, who had no partner. Anyone who holds a different understanding of God than this has contradicted the religion of Abraham and follows falsehood. God says in the Qur’an: “Those who reject the religion of Abraham make fools of themselves.” (2:130)
Prophet Jesus was reported in the Gospels to have said: “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only’.” (Luke 4:8)
Prophet Jacob also said (in the Qur'an) to his people: “Indeed, those which you worship besides Allah are only names that you and your forefathers have established, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command belongs only to Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the right religion, but most people do not understand.” (12:40)

It seems that when people talk of a 'purpose' they always refer either to religion or to work. How could either be a real purpose. It doesn't make any sense. Could it be at all possibe that our purpose in life is to make money and have sex? It really is a sad existence.

I was created to worship Jesus Christ, Lord and King and I do that by how I chose to live my life each day that I arise. If I am a good mother, good wife, good employee, then I exemplify Him, the Creator, and I have fulfilled my purpose.

I think there are many purposes in life. We don't know everything that the Lord has used us for and what He will use us for. Our life needs to be dedicated to the Lord so He can use our lives the way they need to be used.
