What about English as a Second Language? The best way to start is with a degree in Applied Linguistics, which teaches you about the langauge you are going to teach. From there, I suggest doing a CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) which is a four-week full-time program with six hours of supervised teaching practice. You will learn real, practical techniques for teaching English to adults. At the end of the program, many schools offer an option two-week extension for teaching children (CETYL- Certificate in English Teaching to Young Learners).
Once you have your CELTA you are qualified to work overseas in private langauge schools. This gives you the opportunity to live in a city/country for one academic year and then (if you want) move somewhere else the next year. With this kind of employment it's very important to save up money for your retirement, because you might not necessarily have a pension plan.
But SPECIFICALLY I was thinking you could become a Teacher-Trainer or Program Evaluator. Teacher-Trainers complete the DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) and then can teach new teachers. They can usually stay in one part of the world, but travel when they want for short-term placements. When I did the CELTA, my trainer was a Danish man who lived in Brasil and was spending six weeks in Barcelona teaching my course! We also had an evaluator from Cambridge come to ensure the course was run properly- she was based out of England but traveled extensively to make sure schools were up to the standards. It takes several years to work up to this level (like any job with travel) but it's a good way to see the world and learn new languages!
The first two links are CELTA and DELTA, the second is for job postings.
PS - I did a BA in English Literature and then a CELTA, and got a job for eighteen months in Italy. After that I decided to return to school to become a qualified high school teacher, but I still plan to seek international teaching opportunities in a few years.
