I had a hamster that bit when I would pick them up. They were Russian Dwarf hamsters. They are little guys and scare easily so biting is one thing they do to defend themselves. When you hold them keep them in your hand and close to your body. Make sure you wash your hands before handling them cause if they smell food they will bite too. It will take a while for them to get used to you. When you put your hand into the cage go in front of the hamster not behind it, you may startle it. Keep your hand flat and rigid, if they try to bite it makes it a little harder to latch on. I always picked them up in a tube or something small then put them in my hand. Good luck with them. Email me if you need ne more info.

I had the same problem with my hamsters. You should defenitly wear gloves, and let them get used to you. Thats what I did. I can kiss my hammy on the nose, and she wont bite me. Play with her once a day (at least) and give her some treats once in a while

The more you handle them the less likely they are to bite. Take it out of it's cage as much as possible and handle it to show it that your not going to hurt it. Try feeding it a carrot or potato chip while your holding it. It's a trust thing!!!

put something unpleasant tasting to the hamsters on whatever area they bite. most animals don't like citrus, so put a little lemon juice on your finger next time you think he'll go after you. they'll probably hate the taste, but i really doubt it'll hurt them.

You can't. Hamsters are hideous little rodents. Get a rat.

If they're Russian, you might try Vodka.

Bite them back!!! No, just flick them on the nose whenever they do it, and that should deter them from doing that again.

I'd stop picking them up and holding them. They sound scary!
