As the energy crisis becomes real & collides with the baby-boomer retirement bill the 1st Worlds economy will collapse. Expect by 2050 to have an 1850 economy. This is based on nuclear energy being not used & the government not changing the economics of renewable energy from the either dollars out of pocket or out of taxpayers' pockets.
I wouldn't offer up such a scarry prodiction except their is a solution that has been offered to our leaders. This solution to make Renewable Energy economically viable is based on changing the value of land to subsidize the cost of infrastructure. Mulholland may have had the technology to bring water to Los Angeles. The documentary The Cadillac Desert hints at the way to pay for infrastructure. The movie implies the taxing the areas land paid the bill for bring the water to Los Angeles. This is only ½ right. The head of the chamber of commerce, Frank P. Wiggins, marketed Los Angeles worldwide. By populating the area he upped the quantity of water that would be consumed and increased the value of land. The increase value of land increased the tax collected. Renewable Energy infrastructure is so expensive that taxes collected will not be enough to adequately subsidize to cost alone. To keep our energy bill from skyrocketing sellable spin-off benefits have to be designed in. The utility has to participate in the increase land value that its design/vision creates. No new technology is being offered, but if it does come, its not precluded!
Both governments & both sides of the aisle have been silent on this suggestion. Well senator Fienstein at least wrote back patting herself on the back for doing exactly what I said in my email would do nothing more than raise the cost of our energy. Needless to say she didn't answer that email. Renewable Energy's infrastructure cost more than can be paid for at our present cost of energy with a return on investment for the entrepreneur.

Do not fear..
300 years ago they grew grapes in England and produced wine. Greenland, once 700 years ago, really was green. Iceland really was an all ice land once too.
The Earth cooled and warmed and cooled again. The Earth is now warming again. It is still not as warm as it was way back then. Inspite of this people survived quite well during these periods. In fact they "flurished".
Historians know this.
The Sun did it and is doing it again and has done it for millions of years. In fact before the beginning of time the Sun has been warming and cooling.
There are those that need to frighten you. Fear not there is nothing to fear.
However to say so would mean the loss of hundreds of jobs of Professors in Universities across the country who study the last 30 years of Global temps over and over and over again. Professors who work 5 hours a week, 8 months a year at 100 thousand dollar salaries. It would also mean the loss of jobs of thousands of assistants, associates, and political groups who depend on Global Warming for a living.
Just remember wine used to be the drink in England when England was warm.

Polar caps will be gone in 10 years? Where are you getting that information? Wars will come. Natural disasters will come. But the Lord God will see us through it all just like He always has.
Back in the 1930's and 40's they probably wondered if we would survive the next 30 years, and we did, we not only survived but we thrived. Have some faith! Our best days are yet to come! Despite what all the gloomers and doomers are predicting!
