Yes! There's a nerve directly under that piece of skin that divides your nostrils--right at the top of that little indentation that goes to your lips. Clamp down hard on the top of that indentation to stop a sneeze!

This is what the folks in the cartoons are trying to do when they put their finger under their nose, but it works best if you use the tip of your finger instead of the length of it.

I understand it's pain you're avoiding, but a stifled sneeze can be a very frustrating thing. Just so you know.

Well, I'm not sure there's any way to physically stop a sneeze, but you could take some Benadryl or non-drowsy allergy meds (Claritin comes to mind).

Avoid bright lights, too. I know that when I feel like I have to sneeze, but can't, if I look directly at a bright light it brings it on.

Sounds like you have had a painful few days - here's to you feeling better soon, and NO SNEEZES!

looking at a light makes you sneeze more.
i dont think its good to stop a sneeze but if you don't breathe, it may stop the sneeze from coming

i hate it when i sneeze during class because i just feel uncomfortable.. so i tried to hold my breath and it helped

good luck! and your nose will be fine in a few weeks because my brother also had that and he's great!

Lol im not sure there is any sure way to stop a sneeze. But what I always do is look at a bright light or the sun for a few seconds, then it goes away, stay away from dust, and if you have allergys, man i feel bad for you. Good luck healing.

I do the oldest trick in the book. Put my finger under my nose ( not up it but under it ) When you feel a sneeze coming on just place your finger long ways under your nose and push upwards. See if that stops it, works for me.

Here are some fun tricks

When you feel a sneeze coming on use your index finger and touch the middle top of your gums. I know its funny but it works.

Also when you feel a sneeze coming on say brocolli or bumper stickers and that too will sometimes stop a sneeze.

I know there funny but they work

I've found that either telling someone that I have to sneeze or looking into a light will keep me from sneezing...I guess it's different for everyone. Hope you find something that works for you.

WHEN I'M AT A MEETING OR A PLACE WHERE I HAVE TO BE QUIET (I HAVE A LOUD SNEEZE) AND I'M ABOUT TO SNEEZE I JUST RUB UNDER MY NOSE. THE SPACE BETWEEN MY LIP AND THE BOTTOM OF MY NOSE. IN OTHER WORDS RIGHT ABOVE YOUR TOP LIP. I DO IT ALL THE TIME AND IT REALLY WORKS!!! AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO RUB HARD JUST KEEP RUBBING UNTIL THE URGE TO SNEEZE GOES AWAY!

When you first start to get the feeling you're about to sneeze try breathing through your mouth, if that doesn't fend off the sneeze, close your nostrils with any means necessary.

with your surgery this might not work, but when you feel one coming on, roll up a piece of tissue very tight so it is approx. 3/4 inch long and try to kinda tickle the inside of your nose, trying to put it as far back as you can without going too far up so that it becomes painful.

my 7th grade math teacher tought me this trick because i used to sneeze in class often, but this seemed to work quite well for me.
