I restarted and the lights didn't come on. I don't know much about cars...this is my first car. It's used and I've only had it a week to the day. Can it be just my battery or something more like an alternator or something like that. I don't know if I should drive it to work...I don't want it stalling on me again. I will take it to a garage but I just don't know if I should try to take it to work. Please help me.

My lights came on before the car stalled. Thanks for all your input. I appreciate it. :)

Chances are that the previous owners did not tune up your car. I would guess that you won't do the work yourself, so find a good mechanic that you trust to check out your car. Fire4511 is telling you correct, when you turn your key all warning lights will light up to let you know that the bulbs are working. So yes I would say it's safe to drive to work, but take phone numbers in case something does go wrong.

Good Luck

It stalled, which caused the battery and oil lights to come on. You do not say what type of vehicle it is, but it could be something as simple as old gas in the car. Drive it, and see if the problem continues to happen. If it does, take it to a qualified mechanic. If not, do not worry!

Sounds to me that your car just stalled before you came to a stop, I would take it in and have them do a tune-up and go from there.

Battery terminals coroded or loose? Make sure your fuel pump has enough pressure too. IAC might be it too or even the throttle position sensor.
