It could for lots of reasons. But if you want use to give you an answer other then guessing then you might wanna give us more info. How big is the tank? How many fish are in it? What are the water params?

Possibly because ammonia levels are too high, try changing 20% of the water. If that doesn't help, try adding for each 10 gals of water 1/4 cup of aquarium salt........not table salt! to the tank.

Might it have passed on? Over feeding does that to fish.
