Except for the sport model, a Rolex's second hand sweeps instead of ticks. If it's ticking it's probably not a Rolex.

There are several unique features in a Rolex that are not found on other watches.
1. A rolex has a sweep second hand, other watches tick off the seconds 1 by 1.
2. Weight - Rolexes are generally much heavier
3. On a Rolex the rewind mechanism can not be heard when you shake the watch.
4. Each Rolex watch has an ID stamped on the case, fakes use an adheisive sticker

I just would like for someone to email me and tell me what is so great about having a Rolex watch. I have seen people on here says it is heavier, the second hand does not tick...uh.it is probably very expensive, so why would someone buy that instead of a nice looking cheaper watch or an assortment of different nice looking watches and that way they would not have to worry about all that stuff.... Anyone?

If it says, "Rollecks" on the front, it's probably a fake.

If you pay $50 from a guy with a raincoat full of watches.

Or, you can verify the serial numbers with Rolex.

M137 is correct - if the second hand "ticks" then it is fake. The sweeping action of the hand is indicative of a Rolex.

You can check on fake rolex online. I had one and the second had ticked, it should have had a smooth motion.
