The only tip I have is that it is better for me to close my eyes at first until I get used to the motion of the rollercoaster. After I've been on it once, the second time is a piece of cake. I waited a long time to go on rollercoasters because I was afraid that I would toss my cookies in front of everyone. My husband is good at peer pressuring me into things I wouldn't do if he wasn't there.

Just know this: the more extreme the coaster the more ridiculously safe it is (I was on Steel Venom Saturday at Geagua Lake and there is a radar sensor in the station to insure that the ride isn't being launched too quickly, so it doesn't reach the absolute top of its tower, and, apparently, we were moving too fast and the computer system sent the ride into an emergency stop mode bringing our train to a hault from about 67 mph to 0 in around 3 seconds using its magnetic braking system). Just think to yourself that you will love it, as long as its not rough, and that you're perfectly safe.

The way to make it less scary is to work at an amusement park. I worked at one for 7 years. I worked in rides for at least 3 years of the 7. After about the third year, I wasn't scared at all of the coasters. Mostly because, after I was done safety checking my ride, we were required to go over to the large coaster in the section and ride it (to warm it up). So, just about every morning I had to ride it. So, if you have to ride a coaster every day, you're pretty much going to stop being scared of it.

It also helps when you understand what safety requirements are necessary for each and every ride.

Right before the big drop is always the scariest for me. I take a couple of deep breaths and right as you get ready to drop I hold my breath and tighten my legs. Maybe that will help you. Roller Coasters are a lot of fun.
