Was there a carnival in New Orleans this year?

I was just reading some Q&A around here, and saw this question about the reconstruction of NA.. and started wondering about this. Did they do something to bring some joy back to the city??

I didn't watch anything about it on the tv... I'm glad to read that ^-^

Hahaha... yeah, Adam and Eve have nothing to do with the carnival... this girl got seriously lost, give her a break ;)

hmm, adam and eve at mardi gras, that's a good one. anyone seen the those guys with a bullhorn walking up and down bourbon preaching to the choir??
this year there were some gigantic crowds along a few different routes. it certainly was not what years past were like in many ways and in general, parades did not meander down their traditional routes in their tradtional manner. some just flew by at 15-17mph - that's too fast. besides the last weekend of parades thru fat tues, attendance was down signficantly. however, the last 5 days were bigger than anyone would have guessed making it very difficult to believe things were different since the storm. another thing, many krewes had special 'throws' made (trinkets, beads, cups, dolls, etc) that symbolized what has happened, including chocolate city beads.
i can also tell you this, my kids and our family ,including our inlaws from dallas and their kids, had a great time, saw 9 parades, and forgot about the storm enough to let all loose for some quality fun.

Yes Mardi Gras took place ,the weather was beautiful, and for that one Fat Tuesday people didn't forget about the sadness that surrounds them, but they just needed something that seemed normal .
