You will need good website building software such as Dream-weaver, a web host with shopping cart software for checkout (miva, as an example), a domain name, a merchant account to process credit card transactions or a Pay pal account, an item or items to sell that will be appealing to consumers, money for advertising both on line and in whichever media you feel will be more appropriate for your product (newspapers, radio, television). You may need to incorporate yourself in your state in order to do business or register a business name, you will most likely need a tax number to collect on line sales tax, you will need an e-mail address and ideally an 800 number to handle questions or complaints from customers. You will need to learn the basics of search engine optimization, write a "terms of service" policy covering returns and warranties, Most of all, you will need a lot of patience and time. Good Luck!
