I'm particularly interested in ethanol, but other alcohols would be interesting to me as well.

Cholesterol is an alcohol. Anything with an hydroxyl group is an alcohol. Fermentation of sugars by yeasts produces alcohol, therefore its possible for alcohol to be produced in the appendix, or any other body orifice with low oxygen tension where yeast may be present.

The human body itself doesn't produce ethanol. However bacteria in the gut most certainly do produce ethanol that is then absorbed into the blood stream.

you have to be happy because the production of alcohol and its hydrolisation by the human body is the only one that is not immediately poisonous. the human body cannot produce alcohol because is the by-product of anaerobic fermentation and unless you find a way to use sugars without breathing you have no chances :) :) :)
