One step a time! There are 6 or 7 (depending on your strategy) phases you have to go through. First phase is to set ONE face straight. Last phase would be 'correctly locating' the last two (or three -depending on your strategy) corners remaining displaced.

Each of those stages require a basic formulae (or pattern.. as another friend just stated in here) to be applied, and once you know the formulae (or pattern) for each phase; you can do it even eyes blindfolded.

Hard to tell it in written form. It would take just 5 minutes to teach though, when you have the cube in one hand and an eager student sitting next to you. :o))

Patterns... it is quite simple if you know the patterns. If you are good enough (and you don't have to be an idiot savante), you can look at a pattern and solve it with your eyes closed. Not solve the WHOLE cube with you eyes closed, but solve section after section with your eyes closed. Solve one section - open eyes - look at new pattern - close eyes - solve next section - repeat. When I say good enough, I don't mean smart enough. You look for key patterns in the cube and rotate the mechanisms in a pattern. First learn how to do one side. Then learn how to get the top row beneath the completed side. Then the second row. The last row is the hardest. The repitition from learning how to get the rows will set a pattern in your memory. The pattern for getting the colors right are the same ALL the time. It may take a month or two of constant playing with it to learn the patterns. Once you solve the cube you will be overjoyed.

My brothers and I always took the colors off and then reapplied them. But my dad when they first came out he could solve it in 18 to 20 sec. But that was long ago. Good luck.
