Depends on the make and model. Most have a cover on the the bottom of the laptop that can be removed for simple access to the HD.

Most laptops have screws that hold the hard drive in place. In my Compaq laptop, the screws are covered by rubber peices. All you have to do is unscrew the cover, remove it, and remove the old hard drive. Then, replace the cover and then replace the screws

look either on the bottom or the sides for the hard drive door and as previously stated, remove the screw that holds the door in place and swap out the hard drive

if there aren't any screws it is snap fit go to the seam and spread it it will pop open
