What will happen to the Gilmore Girls?

Now that the Palladinos (writers) aren't going to write for the show any more, what will happen? How many more seasons?

Dave Rosenthal will be taking over the writing process. No one is sure what will happen this season. During the month of June and some days in July, the writers sit down and discuss possible plot points and get the scripts written. In mid to late July, the show usually starts filming. Alexis (Rory) and Lauren (Lorelai) are only contracted for 7 seasons, but according to Lauren in an interview, nothing is final. She and Alexis will sit down and think about either not returning, or coming back. If the ratings are good, the show will have an 8th and possibly a 9th. They have only thought about an 8th right now because a 9th is so far away. Lauren said she would not even think of doing the show without Alexis.

It's most likely going to end after this upcoming season, unfortunately. However the past 2 seasons haven't been all that great.
It's especially bad that the writers are leaving. They're so unique and funny--I hope they find someone who can fill their shoes well. But if you ask me, it seems as though they really left during season 5. That's when it went down for me.

It's on for one more season while the CW people see how ratings are. The writers will probably aim for more ratings appeal and tighter story arcs in case it has to wrap up in one season.

i thought i heard somewhere that the actors are under contract for one more season. (i could be wrong) if true, there's at least one more. but now that they're gone, i really hope that it's still as good as it was.
