both equally great books in my opinion, but I think 'The Shining' transferred better to the big screen. The casting of Nicholson as Torrance was inspired - he does 'crazy' really well, although i was disappointed that they interpreted it as a psychological thriller rather than supernatural which was how I pictured it when reading.

The Shining. Did enjoy Pet Sematary, but the character of Jack Torrance is so strong that this story stayed with me for years.

For the record, both movies sucked. Unfortuantely The King's movies never translate well to the big screen (not his fault of course)......possibly the one exception could be Misery, which worked very well.

It's hard to choose.

Kubrick put the "Clockwork Orange" twist on his version of The Shining.

The made for T.V. mini-series version of The Shining, did more for the story.

Pet Sematary, was good, but not the best of his books turned movies. Too much was deleted, but then again, they have to condense so much.

The best part of the original Shining.. Jack Nicholson.

The best part of Sematary...Fred Gwynne.

The Shining takes too long to get going, I know they have to set the scene so you know how he acted normally but god it took so long I nearly died of boredom
Pet Sematary (lol) was a disappointment the books characters just weren't people I felt anything for so the horrors and mysteries did nothing for me.

The best one was "IT" that book was a real page turner - I couldn't put it down, the books well written, believable characters, and an exciting plotline

The Shining, hands down, book and movie (Kubrick's, that other movie sucked).

The book is one of King's best, up there with The Stand (his best, IMHO).

The movie (Kubrick's) failed to convey all of the book, but hey -- it had Jack, and soon after it had half the nation saying "here's Johnny" (more than the Tonight show ever did!!!)

Pet Sematary? Movie = I wanted a refund on my ticket.
Book? Hmm. Ho-hum.

Pet Semetary. The beginning of The Shining is too long and boring.

The Shining. Definitely. It's soooo scary.

But you can't beat Jack for the scary factor
