At one time no-one could beat Stephen King but then his books and specially his plotlines just went downhill so much so that now I rate Dean Kootz as the better writer in terms of plot, description & thrills and spills he is consistently written good books that I couldn't put down where Kings last 6 books or so have been trash in my humble opinion

Dean Koontz. Definately. So many Stephen King novels just drone on for so long, you just get bored, whereas Koontz has a fantasticly descriptive style of writing (although he does repeat himself from time to time!) which keeps you turning the page

I've read most Dean Koontz's books and up until a few months ago I would've chosen him but I'm currently on the last book in the Dark Tower Series by King and will have to read more of King's books
