If the other person doesnt jump it then you do whats called a blow.You blow the other persons checker piece and then you still get to go.

My dad is a long-time checker player, and he says yes. I suppose it is part of the rules, so that you have to use strategy that way.

yes you do have to take the jump and that is from hoyle game rules and yes hoyle mainly deals with card games but they also do board games too
