It goes to the same place that all of of the rubber burned off of automobile tires for over a century has gone....
I mean, shouldn't there be small mountains of Rubber Dust piled along America's highways?

It doesn't go anywhere...just think of a piece of paper...if it gets torn the paper doesn't go anywhere it is just changed in shape. A hole in your sock is pretty well the same.

Socks are knitted as a tube, so like pantyhose, when they get a pick or hole, they will run like pantyhose.
