The best way you can prepare for those 6 miles is just to start running or find some other way to get that aerobic exercise (when you start breathing heavy).

If you decide to just start running set a simple goal for yourself such as making 2 laps around your high school's track. If you get tired and feel u can run no longer slow down to a walk until you catch your breath, and start running again, but then increase your workout by one more lap since you walked. If it helps take a friend with you. They'll make the time go a whole lot quicker and they can also help motivate you.

You also need to remember to practice good technique when your running. Keep your arms by your side and don't swing too big, that takes excess energy. Make sure to run at a pace that is good for you, even if that's a very slow jog, you don't need to sprint the entire way. And always, always, always make sure you practice proper breathing. The reason you get pains in your sides is because you are not breathing right. When you run, especially as you start to get out of breath you need to remember to BREATHE IN THROUGH YOUR NOSE AND OUT THROUGH YOUR MOUTH. This will make it a lot easier to breathe. If you still get pains in your side try raising your arms above your head, that also helps open up your air passage-ways. If you're still having trouble, consider the fact that you might have exercise-induced athsma. To find out if you do, see your doctor and they can help find alternative ways for you to get that exercise, or they might be able prescribe you with an inhaler.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY.....remember that these people at your tryouts are there to see your cheerleading skills, and attitude. Even if you are not able to finish the entire 6 miles, as long as you try your hardest they will be very impressed. Yes, tryouts are there for coaches to assess your athletic ability, and the ease with which you pick up the new routines, but the most important part for your coaches is to see the attitude you have and how hard you are willing to work. They can teach you how to do a perfect toe-touch, or teach you the right technique to run 6 miles, but they cannot teach attitude. That plus your willingness to work hard, and the heart you show will be the deciding factor ultimately when it comes to setting yourself apart from the other girls. DONT WORRY! You're gonna be just fine! :)

Another tip that no person acknowledged - I'm assuming you imply High School cheer tryouts, so cross in your nearest university and ask probably the most cheerleaders if they would be inclined to support you out for an afternoon in trade for fee or foods or something. For making your jumps higher, train, and do a little calf increases (stand at the fringe of a stair-step and raise your self up and down) at the same time retaining a few semi-mild weights (5lbs at so much) to construct your calf muscle mass. You too can have any person watch you at the same time you leap on a trampoline to be certain your sort is right. Some different guidelines: Stay calm, be loud, enunciate, SMILE, and HAVE FUN! Don't fear approximately being ultimate, and if you're making a mistake, simply preserve going and improvise. Remember that while you get at the squad, they are going to train you the entire cheers, so simply be pleased and pleasant and peppy, drink a few water earlier than you cross in, and don't forget additionally that you'll be able to leap amazing-top and do amazing-quality splits typically simply from sheer anxiety, so do not strain on the ones matters an excessive amount of.

well between now and the day tryouts start, you should definitely run everyday. and when it gets to the point where it hurts just stop take a deep breath and remind yourself why you are doing this. if you really want this, you will be able to do it. Cheerleading is a LOT more than just running. If the coaches can see just how much you want it and how hard you are trying, you will be fine. just don't give up no matter what! but until tryouts just keep running everyday as much as you could. also make sure you pace yourself. dont start out super fast. just go at a nice steady speed and keep your breathing under control. i wish you the best of luck. i was a cheerleader for 12 years and i always hated running too, but i didn't let it stop me from doing something i loved to do. i just kept on going and eventually it got easier and easier. you can do it!!! keep on smilin'!!! =)
