there are no compatibility issues with fans. they are universal plug and play hardware. the only thing you need to look at is the size. they come in 80mm and 120mm.

which fan is it, and what computer, the cpu fans can be specific to the heatsink, it is a case fan, they are pretty interchangable,don't go up too much on the amperage, you might not have a lot of extra wattage from your power supply,
just make sure they power connector is the same, sometimes the boards have fan monitoring options, and they need the small plug to connect directly to the motherboard.

If it is for a laptop, they need to be replaced with what is in it, same amp rating and voltage

they interchange most are 80 mm, you can replace with a quality double ball bearing fan for long life and quieter operation or you can pimp it out with one with leds in all colors

for a desktop or tower computer?...yes...most fans are of the same size....find them on eBay
