Cut the grass a bit short. If you leave it long, the longer plant will use up the water even faster! Most of the water loss in a lawn is from the grass itself pulling water from the soil and evaporating it into the asmosphere, NOT from it evaporating from the soil itself. If you let the lawn grow to 3 weeks length you will have a Jungle when you return. Since you should never take more than a 3rd of the height off of the blades of grass with any single cutting, you would have great difficulty doing that when it is super long! It will be so long at 3 weeks time that you will have to mow it twice just to get it back in shape anyway!
Dont worry about watering while you are gone. Trust the lawn to the Lord! You wont kill it off. It might turn brown and go dormant if it gets ZERO water, but it will survive. If you are REALLY concerned about it just hire a neighbor to water it twice a week while you are gone. A normal Bluegrass Lawn only requires 1 inch of precipitation per week anyway...I dont know where you live, but I live in Nebraska and it gets plenty Hot and Dry here in the summer and I Never water my lawn...Ever...And none of the neighbors do either. Water is too precious a resource to pour on a lawn. It turns green in the spring, browns up a bit in the summer, back to green in the fall and then dormant for the winter.
Good Luck and enjoy your trip!

Depends how tremendous the grass field is. Could check out with scissors however does take a rather very long time and makes your arm anguish (did it via boredom as soon as!) Though as many have suggersted the motor will have to scare insects away or no less than down toward eh earth. Don't reduce too brief & possibly brush trough with a rake forst. You can not preclude killiing a few bugs & except you're floating to our mom and dad you can squish a few underneath you toes or at the entrance of the auto you are touring in. Don't pressure your self approximately it.

Before you leave on vacation you should trim the grass, by setting the lawn mower to the second from the highest setting. Then water the hell out of your lawn. You'll have a fighting chance to salvage your lawn when you get back.

An unkept lawn or yard is a welcome mat to those who may seek to invade your property during your absence. I suggest that you give it a high cut to prevent the appearance of a deserted property.
Also, remember to have your mail held during the two weeks (speak with an official at the Post Office to arrange pick up of your mail upon your return).
Enjoy your vacation!
It seems that the taller our grass gets...the more casual visitors we get.

Save the gas, energy, time, environment and grassling's lives. Cut it later, if ever.
