Yes, the US has the right to stand between a foreign nation and creation of new weapons. Some countries (i.e. Iran) are just too immature to be trusted with superweapons. The US has a duty to its own protection as well as the protection of other civilized countries to make sure that these weapons would not be created and use by lesser countries.

I think it's related to some arms agreement that the nuclear powers agreed to some years ago. It helps protect the one-up power they possess over the countries that do not have nuclear weapons, or other WMD. Of coarse the countries that don't have WMD weren't consulted when the agreement was signed.
But, to answer your question, yes the US and the United Nations have the legal right to tell the countries not to have the weapons.

Do you understand the word fanatical? How about unpredictable? Now, let's try Islam, do you understand that word? Now let's talk about government, are you starting to see a message? Do you understand the term, Islamic controlled government? One more, do you believe in self preservation for yourself and your friends?
Any one of those questions by themselves, would make no sense. Frankly, by themselves they look harmless. However, except for the last question, if you put the others together in one format, you've got nothing but trouble! The rest you know. The US will carry this problem to a safe and just conclusion with Iran having no nuclear weapons.

A government's primary responsibility is to protect the very lives of it's citizens. If another nation is a threat or even a potential threat to any American life, I would hope it would do anything possible to deny that nation the means to do harm. Every aggressive nation in history has lied about it's intentions. Just because a country says something like "we won't attack" or "you have weapons, why can't we?" or "our nuclear program is peaceful", they should be believed? That would be stupid.

Yes. The details of this conversation are at the business end of a missle. Shock and Awe is as detailed as I can get for you. If you want weapons and we don't want you to have them, you will not get them.
So sorry!

Yes it does !!!
To protect American and the world .
America has a responsibility to defend itself and those who not strong to defend themselves .
"With great power comes great responsibility"
Just imagine if Hitler had atomic bombs and he blew-up the world at the last minute when he was loosing the wore with a comment such as , " If I can't have the world , then no one can " as he blows up this planet into tiny chucks of rocks and sand .
