Well, it can hurt and it can help. If we are looking at rap culture, then we have to look at the lifestyle and language used by rap in the society. And of course, it has its pros and cons - but it will all stem to the type of lifestyle depicted by rap on the youth - not only blacks, but other races, because the whole point is rap is very influential. We have to look at the type of lyrics - if the lyrics are sound lyrics - something that children for years can live upon with good morals, then it will definitely help the black and other youths to grow into law abiding citizens, men and women of self-worth, people who will go through life with an education, and who will live without being a bother to society. If the lyrics are completely crude and disgusting - plus given the entertainers demeanor and lifestyle, then not only will it become a slime, but it will be a slime for life - young people will tend to imitate this lifestyle and live the words of the song - and you will find that sexual immorality will increase, joblessness will increase, people will lack respect for their family, friends, and elders, and you will find that the society will be deteriorated rapidly. Rap culture maybe entirely good in terms of giving black youths a level of identity, but to another level, rap culture is highly influential and it can hurt black youth if the wrong message is given, or helpful if the right message is given.

No, nothing is wrong with Rap music. All it is rhymes put together that are suppose to make sense. There is Gospel Rap, R&B type Rap and many other raps created by different people. Will Smith was a Rapper nothing wrong with his Lyrics, Rap is good music depending on who makes it.

Then you have Ganster Rap that promote volience, hatred, disregaurd for your brother, and disrespect to women. This type of image will hurt our kids unless they know that it is just music and fantasy and not reality. It's not Rap that's bad it SOME Rappers lyrics that are. It do not have to be Rap with these lyrics anyone can put out bad music in any genre.

no to be racist but i think it will hurt. the sterotypical "black person" doesent have good english skills. thinks white people are all racist to them. carry around guns and go to jail for several reasons. i understand that there are other people not like this at all thats why i said sterotypical. but of course where do you think they get this information from rap music. they listen to "music" that ryhmes about death, drugs, "bitches", and guns. the rappers say they kill people and make it sound cool. they act like they are in gangs and always fighting. this makes yound black children become argressive and attack other people for no reason. they start a gang and kill people and go to jail and realize how stupid they were

The damage has been done. I have to hear about drug dealers, murders and rapists almost everyday in my city, and I think that the hip-hop culture glorifying that stuff is partially responsible for some of those crimes. But white kids like that stuff, too.

I think it hurts young people who look to them as role models. All they are showing is you dont have to be smart to be rich, which leads kids to believe you dont need an education. Also, it teaches that violence is cool and being a deadbeat dad is great. Worthless trash to me......I sure dont want my boys listening to it.
