We have a web-based email and I work from home. How do I hook up Outlook on my computer to send and receive my work emails?

If your work email has email forwarding then you can just go to the options or preference on your work email and set it up so that you can forward a copy of the emails to your home email address. Then you just need to setup outlook for your home email address that you want the emails to get forwarded to. I am thinking your web based email has its own server so you cant configure it at home since Im sure there is a security firewall involved. But you can do email forwarding.

Do you know what email provider you are using for work and if they allow you to use pop and smtp to receive and send email from a different email client?

You can contact me and give me further information if you want me to help you with it.

Web-based mail like yahoo and msn do not allow you to download e-mails from their servers unless you pay a fee to them. If you have an ISP provided email, you have to find out what the pop (or pop3) and smtp server addresses are from them.

Then you can configure an account in outlook. Use the help menu and it should walk you through it.

I have provided a fairly good link with yahoo's instructions.

If you have web-based email then you don't need Outlook. Just access the email as you do at work and you will have to have password to see it.

If it is yahoo then just go to www.yahoo.com and click on "email". they will ask you for id and password so use the same one you use at work.

Hope that helps.

You will probably have to contact your IS department. More than likely there's a firewall which will prevent Outlook from gaining access.
