I'm sorry but I have to say I was still running on Pride and adrenalin and far too excited from watching my boy's the Socceroo's defy defeat against Japan and trying to calm down so I could scream all over again for Italy to pay too much attention. But from what I did see I agree with the answerer above in that there was not a great deal of team work developing. They played more like a team of individuals. If that could be addressed they may achieve a better result.

Eddie Johnson needs to start. He was the only US player to show any creativity or intensity. Despite giving up three goals, the defense wasn't actually all that bad. Koller is going to get those headers, he's 6-7, there's not a lot you can do. The defense left a few people inmarked, but overall, the defense wasn't that bad. The midfield however, should be ashamed to show their faces in public. Their touches, passes, and dribbling was off. They were out of sync and it was painful to watch. The forwards never really had an oppertunity to do anything (mainly because the midfield couldn't get them the ball) so it's impossible to rate them. In the US's defense, the Czech are one of the best teams in the tournament. There's a lot of problems to fix, but Bruce Arena is a good coach, and hopefully he'll make the necissary adjustments.

I watched every second of that game today, and there are a few things that I picked up.
Passing is good, but too much of it is just plain bad! They were just trying to get the other team tired, but all they were really doing was tiring themselves!! There was way too much messing around with the ball.
If they want to win against Italy they need to continue to shoot the ball. The more shots on goal, the more likely one shot will go in! Or 2, or maybe even 3! Donovan needs to really get into the game, and start making those shots that we normally see comming from him.
If the US does that, im sure they will have a good match against Italy.
P.S. shamrock, learn how to spell!! and have some respect..

Sorry to say this but the US realy faced a powerhouse. CZECHS are in the top 5 in the world. Its not like they lost to Mexico or Saudi Arabia. I think Italy's style of soccer is different from the Czechs. Czechs have an air game Italy is more fast and on the ground sort of. I think against Italy the US will finaly wake up and hopefully kick the $hit out of them. The big defender Onlewu or something like that needs to defenitely keep his fouls to a limit as the Italians are great actors with their gay *** hairs. I think the US will still advance with the CZECHS. Dude Bruce Arena is Da Vinci to soccer, today he just did a rough draft but he will have a nice set up for ITALY. It will be a memorable one too. Trust me! He knows all the players from a very young age. He has confidence in them and the players do too. He is the best coach in the world and he will prevail. Better to lose now and focus on their flaws and try to correct them against ITALY.

I don't know what it's going to take. We got thoroughly outplayed today, and I think the Italians are capable of making the same game play work as well or better than the czechs did. Seems like there's a systematic flaw that will be hard to correct in 5 days. I hope for the best, but.....

It is hopless to late for changes. Look at this situation if Czech Rep. wins with Ghana because Czech look much better then Italia Ghana will keep their honor and try everythink in their power to win mentali with US but US with Italia has to win the game in that and by looking in the statistics US never won on European soil in the World Cup wiith any European team, If Italia ignors US potential possibly US will win if Italia be to sure of their self.

Donovan looked like a fish out of water today. He never seemed to want the ball and Beasley seemed to be lacking confidence. I think start with that Johnson (i think thats his name) guy in attack and try to be more creative

They need more speed and more communication. The team felt down when they should have been pumped for playing. Hopefully they will get things together.

USA still hasn't developed good players....(they need more experience) also USA has many other popular sports like hockey, american football,basketball.....those are much popular sports than soccer so USA can't posses good players or good league....but there are potencials...all they need is much more investments:)
