Do you think that most sport fans remember who hosted an All Star Game two years after the All Star Game is held. For example, the 2006 Major League Baseball All Star Game is held in Pittsburgh, PA this year but in two years, are most sport fans going to remember that Pittsburgh hosted the the MLB All Star Game in 2006?

I ususally do not pay remember who host an All Star Game two years after the game has been played and I do not ususally know who won or lost the game.

All-star games are exhibitions - though some have provided some memorable moments - either on the field - or in the pre-game ceremonies (I'm thinking about Ted Williams' appearance at Fenway Park a few years ago, not all that long before he died) - the very nature of an exhibition suggests that the game itself will rarely be all that remarkable or memorable.

Some great plays may stick in the minds of devoted fans (I remember a great catch that Carl Yastrzemski made), but you're quite right - it's not that likely that many fans remember much about the games themselves, and even fewer remember the stadium that hosted them.

Then again, I was fortunate enough to see Major League Baseball's All-Star Game in Atlanta six years ago, so I remember that the game was at Turner Field that year, even though I can't remember where it's been any particular year since then.

A city will remember hosting the game and that cities fans. Like I remember when Toronto hosted the game, in '91. But that's probably because it was of great significance for the city.

The game brings in a lot of money for the team and the city. But for the most part, I bet 90% of ball fans couldn't name the last five all star game cities.

I remember the two that I have attended. I also remember a couple that had unusual circumstances (i.e., the one in Anaheim [back when they had two All-Star games a year] that, because of the late afternoon starting time, the sun was such an impediment that the batters could not see the pitched ball). Otherwise, I would completely agree with you.

Two years ago? Houston hosted!!! American League won.
Yep, I remember!
But then again, I'm a Houston fan and a major dork.
Last year was Detroit and the American League won again.
