Organic nomenclature really isn't that hard. However, it is a bit like the Chinese alphabet.

The Chinese alphabet has something like 7000 different characters. There are so many possibilites for organic compounds that it is really hard to learn them all. There are several good references available at your school library that can help.

If you have some specific examples, I'll gladly try to help you learn what noming conventions apply.

Organic nomenclature is so complex there is no way to explain it here. I took an advanced organic chemistry class in college and the first half of the semester dealt with nomenclature.
