Here is some evidence that justifies your concern:

As for what to do about it, both paper ballots and transparency of voting machine source code are necessary.

There are also other ways to steal an election:

With so many different methods of cheating, there is no one way to prevent it. What needs to change is the Us vs Them attitude, to an attitude of doing what's best for all citizens.

Right, because the Ohio 2004 election is the only one that could have possibly gotten screwed up. What about New Mexico in 2000? As long as it suits the democrats claims that an election was stolen somewhere you'll say anything but really? You are starting to sound like a bunch of psychopaths who are going to be found crying in a corner in 50 years with drool down your chin still rambling on about the "stolen elections". And ulty, you're like the fox news of "reliable" websites. Every single "source" you listed is liberal rhetoric. At least be a little unbiased....

I suspect any company that either monopolizes or holds the majority of voting machines would always find a way to manipulate the votes in favor of the candidate that paid them the most money.

paper trail. we need to have things on paper also. that is what needs done, so that what is on paper is the same as what the machines say at the end of the day.
