Neither, They both send the wrong message. I played with Barbies as a kid so I am not against them or anything, but I think these things need to be looked at for what they are... TOYS! I mean to put them in the position of role models is ridiculous, as a role model, Barbie would be all about being beautiful and stylish, which is nice but I would hope young girls growing up in this day and age can aspire to be more... I mean for that matter, why don't you make Paris Hilton a role model. And then you have GI Joe. I'm not saying i don;t appreciate the soldiers, but I am saying that I am for peace. Why raise boys with the images of war and to think that's cool.

G.I. Jane has to be the best role model, for a girl it says she can be what ever she wants and for the boy it says girls are not weak and should have your respect.
G.I.Joe promotes an aggressive foundation to the child, you are teaching the boy that to be tough and armed means getting respect.
Barbie has no merit she is too skinny which promotes a negative body image from an early age, far to interested in the clothes and material things and not a career girl, she gives the image that to be a successful woman you must be thin, rich and have a good looking husband/ boyfriend called Ken.
Where's the over weight Barbie, the scientist barbie, the barbie that owns a business employing 100's of plastic corporate American figures that rely on her brains to keep them in work.
Why don't we just melt them all down and make frisbees.

I had and still have both. However, my main role model was my dad. I watched how he worked hard to pay for our food, clothes, and home. His deeds and words were what counted. He gave me many times the needed discipline when my behavior had been bad. He was my living example that no toy could replace. Barbie and GI Joe were like my mom and dad. My dad had served in the military. That taught me to love and respect freedom. My mother was more beautiful than Barbie because she was real. The fact was that even from a young age, I knew that toys were always inferior to the real things.

Neither!
They make Barbie a sex symbol, what female didn't want to look like barbie some part of their life?
They make G.I. Joe to be a role model for boys
They say if you do not become a member of the army, then you are not.
If you ask yourself who are the who's? Society!

I say that childrens best role model is their parents, their Mother and their Father. Barbie and GI Joe are fictional characters of pop culture and pop culture is not a good role model for children, parents are.

a bratz doll makes a barbie look modest but when it comes to GI Joe and barbie i rlly think it depends on if u have a boy or gurl and what the parent thinks is best for their child

If I absolutely HAD to choose one of those two, I'd chose G.I. Joe. Soldiers are admirable people, risking their lives for a cause. Even if not everyone agrees with it. (Like me) Barbie is just a preppy ho. All she teaches is how to only care about material things.
