Firefox is better, but IE is compatible with most websites when it comes to javascripting errors and html tags.

IE takes up a lot of memory on your computer. If you bring up both browsers and check your processes, then you will see that IEXPLORER will take up much more memory on your computer. They crash a lot, but if you have a really speedy and intricate computer, then it works like a charm. They are compatible with most companies websites because they use IE as their testing environment. So a lot of javascript errors and html codes is better handled under IE than Firefox.

Firefox needs to be appreciated for having the tabbing feature before IE came up with it with 7.0 beta. They are low maintenance and they are very easy to use. A lot of programmers and computer techs like to use Firefox.

People say security is better with Firefox, but that is a myth. Both browsers are very secure with their SSL certificate handling and their 128 bit security encryption.

Its totally preference. If you like one, you wont like the other. I use both equally.

I prefer firefox over internet explorer (version 6) as firefox is more secure and crashes less often.

Version six of IE is a terrible browser compared to firefox but compared to IE 7 (in testing stages) Firefox loses the title of Best Browser.

I recommend that if you:

-Use Windows 9x/2000/XP (with no service pack or sp1) then go for Firefox
-Use Windows XP SP2 in a Business environment then use Firefox as IE7 is only in Beta
-Use Windows XP SP2 for non business purposes the try out the beta of IE7 at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx

FF: Uses Tabbed Browsing
IE6: Does Not Use Tabs
IE7: Uses Tabs

BTW: I use Firefox
