what is the most common colour eyes in the UK, I think brown, Jim says blue who is right?

Brown is likely to be more common than blue. Each parent gives two eye coloration genes to the child which control the amount of melanin in the eye. Each gene can be 'on' or 'off' - 'off' giving no pigment and therefore blue eyes, 'on' giving pigmentation and therefore brown eyes (or many colours in between).

Since blue eyes require 4 'offs', whereas coloured eyes may have between one and 4 'on's, one should have 1 blue eyed child for every 3 brown eyed. ('Brown' can represent anything from grey-green through green and hazel to deep brown).

Babies are often born with no pigment (therefore blue eyes) but the pigment quickly develops to it's final level.

Brown is most common, but Western babies are all born with blue eyes....... & their true colour comes later, brown, green or grey like mine.

it's gotta be brown which is a dominant trait blue eyes is reccessive ( if blue and brown had a fist fight, brown would win b/c it's stronger) ( I have blue eyes)
