I'm looking for a book discussion group, or maybe ideas on how to start my own for the summer. My son & I are involved in a summer reading program at our local library and I think this would be an excellent way to find new and interesting books to read.

If you live near a Barnes & Noble, they have lists of book groups posted on their bulletin board and if they don't ask one of the sales clerks, they are more than happy to help you start one or tell you about the ones that are in your area.
Another place is the local college. They sometimes have book groups that meet there.

Your local library would certainly be able to steer you towards a book group. Community centres often have them as well. Starting your own would be a great idea. Good on you for going to the summer reading program with your son, instead of just dropping him off at the library as too many parents do!

Try meetup.com. It's a web community and its sole purpose is to get like-minded people together. Go to your city on the site and look for a book club. They're very popular there and you may easily find more than one in your area.

Check with your local library and any large bookstores in your area. Those are your best sources!
