I am very tidy......I know exactly where my last years papers are hiding....underneath the big pile and in some drawers......I don't have room to put my ashtray but the floor is OK I guess.
It is easier that way.......practical . Have some paper towel and sprays a bit everywhere, books all over the place : I don't have to look for them.
Any room I go to I am bound to find something which is already there and don't have to look for a proper place.
Makes sense to me :-). I am extremely tidy regarding my mess.....I know where everything is !

It might be a mess at the moment but the cleaner comes tommorow, Everything is close to hand because I still might need it in a minute, thats why its all a mess,
