I read a Yahoo! article on this earlier, and it is indeed a true ringtone that kids use. Whether or not it works, I can't attest to as I haven't heard it myself (err, or known of it being used around me anyway).

It's called the Mosquito, and you can get it at www.fork.com!

It was originally used to keep kids away from stores and such- hooligans and the like- while letting adults shop in peace, not disrupting them at all.

You can download the sound at http://download.npr.org/anon.npr-mp3/atc/atc_teenbuzz.mp3 but I'm not sure if there's a way to turn it into a ringtone.

And to everyone who said that it was impossible, we've tested it twice. In school, our Language Arts teacher couldn't hear it, but all of the students could, and at home, neither my mom nor dad could hear it, but my siblings and I all could.

Also, it doesn't matter whether or not you consider yourself as mature as an adult, it is based on age, and 31 is still young enough to hear it. When you get older (around 40) you'll probably stop hearing it.

I know what you are talking about, but I don't believe it's a ring-tone. It's more like a high pitched sound that adults can't hear, or can't register.

They have been testing that on Pre-Schoolers and they can pick out a pitch that adults are not able to hear. Still just a test.

I am a "so-called" adult, 31 years, and I can hear that ringtone just fine. Its totally irritating, but completely audible.

... what? That doesn't make any sense at all. Is that a song title, or do you actually think that there are some noises that kids can hear and adults can't?

Adults are like dogs, we hear the same frequencies that you do. If someone is willing to sell it to you, and they ask a lot of money, figure you are just getting ripped off.

Wise up.

If you're not an adult, you shouldn't have a cell phone.
