Pregnancy is a condition and not an illness. I lift my 28lb 13 month old everyday. As long as she (or you) isn't pushing herself, it's fine. If she feels like she straining herself, make her stop!

Why not? If it's comfortable for the woman to bend and the babies aren't poking her in funny places, yes, she can bend. She can even pick up things. She knows how much she can lift and what she can.
Women aren't fragile little flowers, even if they're having twins. They're not invalids..they're just pregnant. Heck, a lot of women go to exercise classes, pick up their other kids, go to work and keep on going, as long as they feel good and the doctor says it's ok.
And if you're worried about her crushing the babies if she bends...mother nature has things arranged just fine inside there. The babies won't be mashed. There's protection from that.

If you have been labeled at risk by the doctor, no you should not lift anything over 20 pounds. If not, you can still safely lift, as long as you can safely get up and down. If you can't get all the way to the floor without needing help to get back up, lifting is probably not a good idea. On that note, lifting can be done safely, as long as you use your legs and not your back and don't extend your arms too far out. If you hold a five pound box out at arms length, it is the same as holding a fifty pound box. Best of luck, and just use your best judgment.. if it seems to heavy, it probably is. Test the weight first, if its too much, let dad pick it up.

provided you can get back up then yes, it's fine. Lifting should be restricted to no more than 5 pounds and bending should be done at the hips. If the doctor says no bending though...then obviously no bending. At 4 months though the babies are so tiny that it won't effect them at all. As she gets further along it may become more difficult to bend but as long as she doesn't strain herself she wil be fine. (I always went with 5 pounds becuase of stress to the body as you get further along but most doc's will tell you 20... I always played it safe though.)

It is not recommended to do heavy lifting. I guess get help if lifting any weight over 10 pounds. Have the pregnant woman wear a pregnancy belt. That will give her some back support. You don't want her getting any hernias.

unless it is a high-risk pregnancy there is no reason she can't bend or lift. tell her to avoid any activity that is painful. it is recommended that women stay active during pregnancy. i bowled with a 12 lb ball until i was 7 months pregnant and also worked long hours on my feet as a hospital staff nurse until 1 week before my due date.

You can bend and you can lift as long as you aren't lifting anything too heavy or straining too much.
