Hey there Scott
Unlike Africa which is a Continent made up of many countries, the United States is one country made of 50 states, so they have one team participating as all other countries do. However I'm sure that their players come from a wide range of States in their country. I hope that makes things a little easier to understand. Don't worry, not every one knows everything about other countries. Hope you enjoy the World Cup.

So, there are 50 states in the United states, and only 23 players. This means that each state is not represented by a player, if that is what you are asking. We are one country so the 23 players represent out country as a whole.
About the countries that can qualify for the world cup (only 32 qualify). To qualify for the world cup you have to be one of the 207 FIFA member nations, and rank high enough in your region.
A funny (for me at least) statistic is that there are 207 member nation of FIFA, but only 191 United Nations member nations . . . just think about it.

First off their are 50 STATES not countries. We are only ONE Country. We just have smaller parts called States. Canada has Proviences. Other Countries are proably divided into other things. So yeah all 50 are participating as we are all one thing.

dude, check out a map, there is only 1 country in the US. There are 50 STATES. and i dont think they're all represented, b/c i dont think we have 50 players on the team

Here you go: there are 32 countries partcipating in the world cup in Germany this year. The US has 23 players on it's squad. All of them are US citizens.

there are no "countries" in the "United"States", sorry.
World Cup means "the whole world" although I am uncertain which countries play, I can imagine that most do, if not all.
