I'm afraid I'll be no help, I'm 33 but in my head I'm still 20!

Coping with life and the situations we find ourselves in will never suddenly 'Happen' We are all a product of our upbringing and experiences. As you go through life you will have many different experiences, some good, some bad. From each one you will learn a little, grow a little and be that much more stronger and able to cope with the big wide world. It's a gradual process which never ends, that's the beauty of the world - there will always be something new to do, always someone new to meet and always something to surprise you. Independance is just another word for confidence. This will build as you experience new things and achieve new things.

The good will balance out the bad - if you let it! Never dwell on negative things or they will be all you can think of. Keep your mind and heart open while keeping your feet firmly on the ground and you can't go wrong.

Life is like any other good journey - It's the ride, not the destination, that holds the magic.

"It's a long way down"! At 19, you feel this way naturally! You are normal, that is good. I first started feeling like an adult when I held a job, and bought my first car. When I was able to decide who I wanted to be friends with, and who I did not. What I wanted to do for myself, and when I wanted to do it. This was all at the age of 20. By 21, my life started to change drastically, and now years later at 27, I'm long pass feeling like an adult! Enjoy being young, because years go by fast. You'll think back, and wonder why you worried about such a thing! You'll know when you are an adult when this question is far from your mind! Take Care!~

I started to feel like an adult a little bit when I was about 15 because I started to drink, then when I was 16 I became an alcoholic instead of drinking lightly because I had a girlfriend who left me and that is what started my alcohol days for real. By the time i was 17 I had already went through trouble just like adults and was arrested 4 times that year and had about $500 in fines and 1 DWI, 2 DUI's and then for jaywalking when I was drunk. I've stayed out of that trouble since, but I still drink, but I'm just more wise about it. You have to learn the hard way sometimes.

When I moved out of home and started to fend for myself at the age of 16. Until you take the step to independents you will never feel like an adult.

I think it was when I started my first full time job at 18 and on my first day saw my two bosses playing around like kids! You might say I was shocked into adulthood!

That being said, I still (at 65) feel I have a lot of childishness in me still (if I wasn't honest about it, my wife would certainly set you right on the matter).

I always feel a little sad for those people one comes across every now and then who seem to have lost that sense of wonder at things that kids have. "What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare!"

When I got a real paying job - that's when I was 20.

When I realized that I was going to spend the next 40 years working is when I knew I was a real adult in the real world.

Before 20 I just thought I was an adult, but I had no CLUE!

You know I feel the same today as I did when I was 17, and I am 29. The only difference is that I go to work and I pay the bills. But I FEEL the same.

Forty four and yet to experience the feeling, I categorically refuse to grow up. I don't do anything to conceal the sign of old age, though. But the soul is still soaring and the heart care-free.
