I had to go to court today and got some unfortuate news which at was not as bad as I thought. I got pulled over last December because I wasn't wearing a seat belt (hello! I was going through a check point! Shouldn't they be worried about drunks?) And I was late paying my car insurance by three weeks and my insurance company called the bmv and told them I was late so they suspended my licsense! I renewed my licsense that night and went downtown and paid a $200 reinstatement fee then I went to court and paid $260 in court costs. As far as I knew I had my liscense back and everything was cool. Then in March I was really upset because a family member owed me money and he said he would bring it over, never came over and wasn't picking up his phone. Furious, I drove to his house and was going about 65 in a 40 on an inconspicous country road. A cop coming the oppisite direction sees me and turns around and pulls me over. He comes back and tells me my licsense is suspended! I guess even

I paid that fine downtown they still proceeded to suspend my license because I got pulled over twice that year! How the hell can government officials suspend your license after you pay a fine for $200 and they tell you that you have your license reinstated? So anyway, I just went to court today for the last speeding offense and I had to talk to the prosecutor. This was an old skinny white guy with a hostile, aggressive attitude who I think should be fired. There were about 6 people in front of me and they were all male all white except one who was black. As soon as I sat down, he (the prosecutor) asks the first guy about his job then makes the comment, "I thought only Mexicans did that job. Well I'm glad that you have that job instead of one of them!"

Totally ignorant especially considering he doesn't have to worry about that because he lives in Ohio and few Mexicans live here! So he's pretty easy going to all the men in the room. I'm last and I give him my name. He's reading over my papers then he says 'How about 60 day's house arrest?'

. I started to cry and he starts yelling at me! He asked me if I read the note outside his office that said 'No crying' which he was trying to be sarcastic! He tells me to quit crying and tells me to get a landline phone and I can get work privliges (at upon mentioning, I stop crying). He tells me that I have to do a minimum of ten days and I will be on probation for 3 months. He tells me I sould be able to do the 10 days because he says I 'probably don't go anywhere'.

Who the ***** is this guy to tell me what I do? And when I seen the judge, he informed me that I also had to pay a $265 fine! Something the old geezer failed to mention! Is there anyway I can get this guy in trouble and how would I go about doing it? I suffer from anxiety and depression and I cannot control my crying. I do not need some old sexist, racist asshole to make me feel bad!

To anyone who thinks this is fair: You are all stupid and noone is perfect! If my insurance company can call and tell the BMV that I was late paying my insurance then you would think the BMV can call and tell me my licsense was suspended! You are probably a bunch of Republicans who are not much smarter than George Bush! I get strict, unfair punishment for minor offenses, while I know someone who murdered his wife and kid and only got 15 years in prision! If I decide not to wear my seatbelt, that should be my constitutional right it is nobody's business. If I was a few weeks late paying my insurance, so what? I'm not rich and it was my first time being late! I'm not a bad person and I pay taxes I should not be treated like a criminal over some bs!

You've got to remember, prosecutors are lawyers. They spent their three years in law school. They know how to be major league jerks. They know all about the system, and they usually don't like to give breaks, even to the "small" people charged with speeding, etc... Maybe they'll reduce a fine a little, but they nearly always get their guilty plea/conviction. If they can sock it to somebody, they probably will.

In some places, prosecutors are elected. If not prosecutors, the district attorney or attorney general may be elected. You should investigate if this is the case, and if so you can campaign against the current officeholder.

You are looking for revenge? Listen.., the Prosecutor could have really mussed you up - sounds like he gave you a break. Every state has traffic laws and if you get 2 to 3 traffic violations (depending on what they are) can take your drivers license - and without insurance - thats a bummer your situation but everyone gets that same shake.
Just be done with it - and see the courts about what you have to do to get your license and be grateful if they work something out.

You are no better than the rest of us.

Good grief! I cant figure out why you want to get someone fired? #1 YOU were the one who allowed your car insurance to lapse! Learn to pay your bills on time; that's why they have a DUE DATE printed on them! When you don't pay it on time DMV gets notified and your license gets suspended-no way around it, that's just the way it is. #2 Your seat belt is the first thing that you put on when you get in a vehicle- you got caught, it happens-get over it! #3 Your *** was speeding- you got caught, it happens-get over it and slow down! #4 ALWAYS wait until you get a letter from DMV saying your license has been reinstated - until then stay your *** off the highway!
Oh I just saw the rest of the story you added...Whah Whah Whah!

Well, i dont see anything about the prosecuter in your details, but you disobeyed the law and had to go to court and you want to get someone fired over that?

So what is everyone supposed to walk on eggshells around you. Try to avoid breaking the law in the future.

Wow- that really sucks! You could try to get the prosecutor fired, but you probably won't get too far. I guess just try to avoid run-ins with the law would be your best bet! Good luck! :)

Have you ever been through Mississippi? Most of the local prosecutors and judges are Democrats.
