It's a shame, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a "crime." It's a personal choice and they have their reasons. Maybe the West Point grad. is only doing it as a temporary job until they find a better job opportunity or save enough money.

No! Being happy and doing what a person likes should be what is most important. My brother-in-law thought I was crazy to leave a 6 figure income as a financial adviser to become a teacher. I find teaching more rewarding. I think I am living up to my potential. It takes a lot more knowledge and guts to do what I am doing now than what I was doing before.

the crime is against themselves so its a moot point maybe he would have become dictator of earth if he was a general first so let him be and dont stir up old west point grads to over achieve they can stay home and raise children and then theres no one to war anymore

Hey, it's a personal choice ! Plus he is probably getting paid some big bucks. So what? I have a sister who has a Masters and was a college professor for ten years, she now owns her own heating/air conditioning business and is one of the technicians.

Are you talking living up to their potential or living up to others expectations? Perhaps this person is happy at what they are doing. Perhaps it is for the money. Regardless if a person is doing what they are happy at doing, who is to say they arent living up to their potential.
